The procrastinator

In the fourth quarter of the CMGT study, artists and designers alike had to create a short film for the cinematics course. Since I had no experience with animation, I decided to shoot it on video.

But before filming could start, I first had to get an idea. Since I had more limitations if I would shoot it with a video camera,

I had to come up with an idea that was doable for me, required a small amount of locations that allowed shooting and actors. So, I came up with the idea of a guy, who wants to win a screenwriting contest, but has no inspiration.

I wrote down a synopsis and a first draft of a screenplay.

The next step was to draw and animate a storyboard. Since I had a clear idea of how it should like in the end, it was not that much of a problem. The animation was done in Adobe After Effects.

The next step the actual shooting. I rented a video camera and a tripod from the university. I wanted to rent some light, too, but I had no possibly to transport all of it alone. We shot everything in one day.

I cut the film and placed some sound effects in Adobe Premiere Pro. I had to adjust the color and light in some scenes, which I also did in Premiere Pro. The Opening and the screen close ups where made in Adobe After Effects.

The sound effects and music where prerecorded free-to-use sounds from the internet.
