In the second year of my study I decided to finally bite the bullet and practice how to use a drawing tablet. Learning digital drawing was always a goal of mine and over the time in Creative Media and Games Technologies I realized it would come in handy and save a lot of time if I am able to make my sketches digitally.
My goal for this project was to make a concept design for a building called "The Cube" , which is one of the settings in my interactive short story "To my Wife".
I started by doing research on possible building styles and real places that I could use as inspiration. At the end Brutalism and the Walled City of Kowloon became major influences.
I started production by writing a brief: At the end of the road stands the old Cube. Made of concrete, this was once an ambitious building project to provide enough living space for all the workers that tried to find there look in at IPR, and their families. Chunky, large in every sense, steady, was it supposed to become a local sigh to show dominance and resemble the strong economy at the time. But that was long ago.
Now, its decrepit, dirty, broken. In danger of collapsing. But that doesn’t scare the people who still live there. Poor families that cannot afford living in the suburban, young drug addicts that have no other place.
It became a new society, that has everything it needs.
After making a fitting moodboard I made my first digital sketches of my ideas.

I made one final three side view after I decided on a design.
Afterwards I started to make the final drawing and the outlines in a two point perspective.
