Old Chinese house
To get the basics of creating 3D assets, the artists and designers had a 3D modelling course in the first year of the CMGT study. The assignment of this course was to create a 3D model of a house in Maya and texture it with Substance Designer.
Before we even started with the modeling, we had to choose a theme. I chose medieval china.
I began with research, creating a library of example pictures before I made my first concept sketches, and a model sheet, to know what my model should look like in the end.
Then I started to model it in Maya and made the UVs fitting, too.
When the bare model was done, I textured it in Substance Painter. We where allowed to use all kinds of materials that where preinstalled or could be found on substance share.
